Hiker's paradise
Hermanus is an ideal base from which hike, self-guided or with a professional guide, and explore the
exquisite coastline of sandy beaches and rock pools as well as the diversity of indigenous fynbos in
the Klein River mountains. You may be fortunate to spot some of our resident and visiting whales
along the beautiful 12-km Hermanus Cliff Path.
Overberg Gems
Sample a wide range of world-class wines from more than a dozen estates in the spectacular Hemel-
en-Aarde Valley, just north of Hermanus. Travelling east, towards and beyond Stanford, there are
more wineries and two cheese farms to explore. Superb food for various palates abounds in the
Overberg, including on local wine farms.
Coastal Adventures
Marine enthusiasts will delight in the easy access from Marsh Rose Cottage to the Hermanus New
Harbour, just five-minutes’ drive or a gentle cliff path stroll away. This port is popular for fishing,
whale and birding cruises, ocean kayak trips and great restaurants. If you’d like to get on the water,
we will do our best to make it happen!
